Science to Action: Protecting Our Ocean and Climate
Join the Museum of Underwater Art (MOUA) for an inspiring evening of art, photography and conservation talks at the Townsville Brewing Co. Banquet Centre.
This event will showcase the captivating 2026 Ocean Art Exhibition, offering a unique glimpse into marine conservation through art.
The evening will begin with a seminar discussion – Science to Action: Protecting Our Ocean and Climate – where some of the world’s leading marine scientists and conservationists will come together to discuss the future of our oceans.
Hear from Board Chairs Paul Victory and Adam Smith, local artists and marine scientists, as this engaging discussion will explore the intersection of marine science, art, and citizen science, highlighting how these fields work together to drive reef conservation and public engagement.
Next, there will be the much-anticipated announcement of the winners of both MOUA’s art competition and MOUA’s month-long photography competition, celebrating the creativity and passion of those who capture the beauty of our reefs.
The event will conclude with our Ocean Art Auction, giving attendees the opportunity to buy works by local artists displayed at the exhibition (and additional MOUA statues by international artist Jason DeCaires Taylor), as well as supporting MOUA and ongoing coral reef conservation (with a percentage of sales going to MOUA).
Optional donations can be made to MOUA on the night to support our ocean conservation and education initiatives. Please see staff on the night if interested.
