Charlie Veron featured in ABC’s Australian story
ABC’s Australian Story has featured the ‘godfather of coral’ in an intriguing piece about plans to create a biobank of the 400 species of coral on the Great Barrier Reef, to help futureproof the existence of coral species that are threatened by changes on the reef.
Charlie Veron is working alongside the Great Barrier Reef Legacy to categorise every species, so far 85 have been collected and are being stored in a state-of-the-art facility in Port Douglas. Aquariums throughout the world are sent microchipped fragments of the corals.
