Citizen Science Month 2026

  • Townsville, QLD Australia (map)

April is Citizen Science Month - building awareness of opportunities for all people to participate in science in meaningful ways!

Each April, Citizen Science Month celebrates the people, projects, and scientific outcomes made possible through public participation.

Anyone can participate. No prior experience is needed. Every contribution counts.

Small contributions like submitting a photo of a marine species on the GBR can help scientists better understand population changes and help protect this natural wonder. Together, we can help solve local, regional, national and global challenges.

Join this exciting event, become a citizen scientist and explore the Museum of Underwater Art at the same time, with its inspirational Ocean Sentinels sculptures honouring famous marine scientists and conservationists!

When: 1-30 April 2025
Where: MOUA, John Brewer Reef, Queensland, Australia
How: Book a diving or snorkelling trip to MOUA during 1-30 April 2026, take underwater photos of marine life and upload them to the MOUA John Brewer Reef iNaturalist project

Special Event: Join us with Adrenalin Dive on the 23rd April as we go on a quest to find the illusive, rare and interesting species surrounding the Museum of Underwater Art and John Brewer Reef. https://scistarter.org/citizen-science-at-museum-of-underwater-art
